Melbourne 2009

Basically there's nothing much to do in Melbourne, no night life, no shopping. Shops close at latest 6pm, and their shopping brands are all unheard of. We should have stayed at the Crown Promenade where their casino is situated so we can go gambling at night! haha.
We joined day tours which brought us to Philip Island, farms, Yarra Valley, wildlife parks, the Twelve Apostles etc. I must say Australia have a great collection of native animals, which i really like all of them! It'd be nice to have a farm in Aussie, with all the lovely animals in your backyard.. then i can have cows, goats, sheeps, horses, and maybe penguins as my pets! haha.

Changi T3
Queen Victoria Market.
It's their grocery-shopping place, but to us, it's like a mega pasar malam.

Wombat!
It looks cute over here, but in real life it looks like a wild boar.

Cute tissue box cover

Fresh fruits and veggies at low rates

Mega hotdog with lotsa cheese

Warrook Cattle Farm!
Kangaroos are damn cute!! How i wish i can bring them home as my pet!
They are not afraid of humans at all and they'll let you pet them.
This is a joey i guess..

looks like your dog

they are so guai

Lovely beach

Not forgetting my mario jump

Koala Conservation Centre
Here the koalas are busy sleeping, while the Koalas in the wildlife park mentioned below is more active!

Big koalas

I'm not lazy too

This shot was taken by having self-timer on the camera placed on the bench.

Australia has many scenic coastal views..
til i can't remember which bay or coast are these.. haha

Philip Island's penguin parade!

everyday during dusk, thousands of little fairy penguins would emerge from Summerland Beach and waddle to their burrows on hills. Those penguins are really the mini kinds, not the usual big fat ones in arctic. their legs are so mini, yet they are able to make such a long journey back home. super impressed with them.

a waste that no photography allowed, so i can only pull it from GOOGLE!

Fairy penguins are sooo cute!!

these are the burrows of the little penguins' home..
spot a wallaby in the midst

this sign is super cute.. some of the little penguins might lose their way back to their burrow homes and wander to the carparks.. if i ever see one, i'll bring it back home! haha

Next daytour - Great Ocean Road Adventure
While waiting for the bus..

The Twelve Apostles
These are limestone stacks rising from the Southern Ocean. As to why the apostles exist only in the Great Ocean Road, i'm really not sure. any geog lovers can tell me why?

Despite the name being Twelve Apostles, there are not twelve individual stacks visible in any one location. From this view we can only see 4- 5 apostles? After google-ing Twelve Apostles, then i realised that the one on the left collapsed in 2005.

More info taken from Google regarding the creation of apostles:
1. Wave action erodes the cliff face, leaving harder rock as headlands.
2. Waves eat away the rock at sea level, forming caves on each side of the headland.
3. The caves eventually meet up, forming an arch.
4. The arch collapses, leaving a rock stack.
5. Further undercutting by waves and opening up of vertical cracks in the rock by rain and saltwater, gradually reduce the stack to a low platform or reef.

..The wonders of nature.

Loch Ard Gorge is also created the same way

same goes for the london arch / london bridge

The Dandenong ranges - full of lush ferns and towering timbers

The Puffing Billy Steam Train
Australia's oldest steam rail

full of steam..

This is the old sch way of riding the trains..

Disembarked the choo choo train

Real charcoal fireplace in the Fergusson Winery's restaurant

superman.. forgot to change outfit

Pinot Noir from Fergusson Winery..

Healesville Wildlife Sanctuary - home to Australia's native wildlife
Australia's largest bird - emu

Most of the time i see koalas rolled up in a ball sleeping away.
But this one in the wildlife park actually moved! it was really a rare sight, as koalas sleep 20 hours a day, so they'll only move during that short span of 4 hrs.. how lucky!

moving around the trunks.. it looks very clumsy but it's quite agile actually

getting ready in sleeping position

I wanna be a koala too!!

Zi pai with a SLR

Echidna
A marsupial that looks like a porcupine but acts like an anteater.
my house would be ants-free if it's my pet.

A wallaby that looks like a donkey.
Wallabies are smaller kangaroos but darker in colour.

The only thing i like about Australia is their native animals!
My fav would be fairy penguins and young of a kangaroo, joey!

Cheers~
